HOF Auto Registry Set Question

I know that previously, authenticated autographed cards without a grade could not be added to the registry set. Have those rules changed and could a card such as the one on the link be used for the set?

There are two possible scenarios here:
(a) was the card slabbed "Authentic" because it was altered, miscut or whatever and didn't qualify for a grade
(b) was it slabbed "Authentic" because whoever submitted it opted for that rather than a grade (fool!)
In the second case you could re-submit it for a grade though PSA might charge you another $20 for the privilege.

Nope, that didn't work for me either. Let's try this:

I agree - let 'em in. As roastedcat said in another thread, some of them are really necessary to plug holes in a HOF set.
Another instance where the "Authentic" tag is handed out is where the card is from an unlicenced issue, but that's not the case here - I already have 3 of the Donruss 83s in my HOF set.
I have a feeling that there's a software issue at the back of this. The Set Registry system and specifically the calculation of GPA and Set Rating can't cope with a card without a numerical value. Someone suggested some time back giving the "Authentic" cards an automatic 1 (or even 0.5?). Now, how hard could that be?

By the way, very nice set you have going. I'm still working on mine (Jason's HOF Set...) and the majority of what is in mine now came from cards I sent away for autos over 20 years ago. It's fun getting back into it though.

I have seen cards graded "authentic" sell for more than similar cards graded 6 and lower. Bidders may get cold feet at buying an PSA 5 but will pay more for the same card if it has no numerical grade. It amazes me to no end! Buyers don't seem to have any faith in their own judgement of a cards condition. A "6" is an EX-MT card after all. What's wrong with that? Especially if it has been signed by a deceased hall of famer whose 2003 SP cuts Auto will cost $150 and Up.
PSA does not offer COA's with their $20 autograph grading special. They state that the slab serves as the COA. Reasonable thinking would be that you could submit the card in the slab under any service level desired and have the card graded without spending the $20 DNA fee. I would be very dissapointed if they wouldn't.
On a related note. I was emailed that new PSA/DNA submissions were to be sent to CA.
Did James Spence move West?
Is he still involved with PSA?
I haven't submitted to PSA/DNA since that facimile Bucky Harris (?) auto was slabbed. I emailed Spence and got a reply that they were looking into the situation but no follow up or explanation followed.
You'll have to resend them back to PSA and do a cross over and request it be graded for your set registry. However theres no guarntee they will get slabbed because they might be trimmed or have been recolored.
The cards labled as "Trade card" can't be issued a grade because they aren't licensed cards. I was told by Ivan Lopez one of the graders at PSA that many of the cards are now being issued serial numbers rather than being left blank. In hopes that we will be able to get
all the cards into the system and keep track of them. Even with the serial# the card still needs to have a grade to be able to add them
into the set.
I've emailed the set registry and requested a few time that there needs to be a change for the autograph set registry, we are having trouble plugging in the holes and completing the set due to cards issued without a grade. I suggested to them to let us add the cards and make it a "0" point system NG-(no grade) but still haven't heard from them, I guess I'm being ignored. I was hoping that with the new system upgrade we well be able to add them to our sets, I tried it that 1st day when we got the system running. But it wouldn't accept any of them.
Also, I've opted out and quit sending my business to PSA/DNA. My last batch of cards recieved from them, All 32 cards came back as questionable and no refund or credit was given. How can every single one of the cards be questionable, doesn't make sense. I bought them from different people on ebay. After arguing with them and given the run-a-round, It just made me very fustrated. It's really hard to try and get 50% complete with this one. Once I get 50% complete, I'm planning too just retire the set and quit. This way they will stay on the registry. I'll sell them all off to Jonathan...lol. (quick note: They were mostly Football cards for my HOF Football autograph set, about 12 were Baseball cards)
I keep getting letters to renew my PSA membership, but I'm not planning to renew. It's cheaper to buy cards already graded in PSA holders on Ebay than to get them graded yourself. For Now I'm taking a BIG Break from collecting autographs and started collecting Michael Jordan cards, you know you can buy a bunch of PSA 9's for under $3. what a bargain. somebody paid $5.00 or more to get them graded so I can buy them for $3. The Michael Jordan Master set consist of 2600+ cards, that will surely keep me busy for awhile. I'm tied for 6th place wooo hooo!

That's a shame to hear about your auto's being deinied. I actually just sent off 11 to PSA/DNA so I'll see what happens. You're right, it certainly is easier to just buy those off Ebay that are already slabbed but by not allowing those shown as "Authentic" in the set, it will be near impossible to fill some holes. Good luck in your Jordan set!
