Anybody else having trouble with PayPal?

Since yesterday, I've been receiving an error (abort) message at various stages of trying to send payment for eBay items won. I did manage to muscle one payment through, but I've been unable to get any more payments out. Anybody?

Same deal. Error 3004. I was also able to force a couple through by repeatedly clicking "Retry" the other day, but none have gone today. Frustrating. At first I thought they might be under a "denial of service" attack, but somebody in one thread suggested they were moving some of their systems to another server.

Same here. I usually pay immediately after winning but repeated tries have failed. I am glad to see that it's not a problem just on my end.

Am I the only one who has been bombarded by spoof Paypal emails in the last few weeks? May be paranoia, but makes me wonder if this has anything to do with it.

PayPal seems to have gone "bye bye" again. Have been trying sporadically the last hour or so and can't even get to the login screen.
  • I paid Paypal via EBay this morning but I just tried to logon and it was no dice. Off the subject USAA website is the same. Down since monday morning.

    Dirty Harry,
I've been getting them as well. Beware - don't give out any personal info! I work for a credit union, and we have members that are getting scammed from these emails. They are seeing phony emails for everything from credit card companies to banks. They're "phishing" for folks that will give out credit card, account, or Social Security numbers.

I managed to get through this morning (around 7:30 MST). It took a little while (about 2 minutes per screenload) though. Thankfully, I don't have anything else I need to pay for right now.
  • Its a botched software upgrade.

    Hello everyone,
Wanted to stop by to share the latest information we have about PayPal, from the eBay Announcements Board:

    ***PayPal Site Update***

Date: 10/12/04 Time: 10:49:03 AM PDT

We understand the PayPal site issues may be impacting many of you and your ability to do business with PayPal on and off eBay, and we apologize for this situation. We would like to update you on the current status and the efforts being made to resolve these issues.

Today, access to PayPal continues to be intermittent. Some members are able to log in to the site and make payments and perform other activities, although they may be experiencing very slow system responses. Other members are not able to get in right away, or at all. PayPal users may also be having problems with their debit cards.

Sellers who use PayPal shipping functionality may be having problems shipping products to their buyers, and buyers may be experiencing difficulties paying sellers. We encourage members to be patient with trading partners as we work to improve PayPal access.

These PayPal issues are the result of unforeseen problems that resulted when a new code base to upgrade the site architecture was introduced to the PayPal platform on Friday morning. The code worked well when tested and during the first hours of launch. Unfortunately, problems handling peak levels of traffic developed later in the day that created intermittent availability and errors for members. These problems have continued in varying degrees since Friday.

Account data and personal information have not been compromised by these issues. eBay and PayPal technical teams are working at full force to fix the underlying problems and improve site access.

We will continue to update you on the status of this situation.

    Regards, eBay

I've been good since last night but it seems that accessibility may be regional.

  • I think the PayPal issue is solved. This just goes to show you how important PayPal is. I'm an E-bay seller and buyer and if i had to wait for checks , money orders when i sold items and had to send checks, money orders when i'm buying items it would slow things right down. Time is money and cash in hand instantly versing waiting for checks is worth the couple of % they charge for fees. Long live PayPal!
