new scans 72T BB slab or raw

Thanks for the info. my scans were poor because I was trying to get under 50kb to list them within this

forum. I have added a Rose scan with a outside service with darker background(Thanks works great),

higher resolution and birightness taken down. After looking at the submission sheet when all added up with

two way postage it will be over $10 a slab. The card in the scan is about one of the top 50 for condition

and I also have mult. of others like Sutton, Rose IA, Teams, Niekro etc. that have decent corners and

centering. I have looked at the corners with a 10x loop and see a very diff picture than my untrained naked

eye. Should I get into trying to give that much detail when I sell raw or present a scan and a discription

with any minor defects that I see? While some of the offers listed are a lot more bits than I paid I want to

make sure Ebay and Paypal gets their cut, so its off to auction I gooo. maybe I should give Collector222(?)

a call and see if his grading service is up and running yet. Thanks Jim

    Hi Jim,

If you do the following steps, you can have the pictures show up in your message.

    1) Copy the url (http://blahblah.com).

    2) Click the picture frame button just to the right of the U button in the toolbar.

    3) Right click the edit area and choose Paste. The url should appear in the typing area.

    4) Click OK.

    5) Repeat for all of the outside hosted images you want in your message. I've done the first one for you.

In raw form, you'll get $10-20 for the Rose's. If you grade them and they come back 6, you'll be lucky to break even after the grading charges/shipping, however, if they come back as 7 or higher, you'll be ok. Same deal with the Ryan's... raw they'll sell for around $20, graded 7 or higher will bring much more. The Sutton, Niekro, Kaline & both Robinson's have insignificant value in the shape they are in. Basically you have 3 Rose's that look like they could be 5-7's, a Rose IA that looks like a 7, and two Ryans that both look like 6's. I'm also making the assumption that they are unaltered, which would mean they could qualify for grading as well. Basically, you just have to ask yourself how much you want for them. You paid 50 cents for them, if someone offered, would you take $25? $50? $75?...
  • I bought a raw Rose ia about 5 months ago for $6 or $7. It was about EX/MT,so that might give you an idea. From the scans it looks like the Robinson is in the nicest shape(the one on the left side). Most of the cards appear to be 6-7,so it might be best to sell raw.
I was wondering: Where do you find cards like this for 50 cents?? It seems whatever you do, you will make money, it's just a matter of how much.
  • Thanks guys, I think my best plan of action will be to sell raw. Old story: I think seeing these star cards in great condition(to my untrained eye) got me thinking with dollar signs in my brain and that the cards were in better condition then they are. I shop all kinds of moving/estate/garage/church sales and see a lot of cards but most are for set/year boxes of baseball from the late 80's and newer with someone still trying to get there money back on the cards. I picked up a 300 card lot of1968 Topps BB from an 80 year old guy that has tons of cards 1950-1980 and other items overpriced, but he has this lot of commens(he pulled the stars and high#) for $5 I sold them on Ebay for $230+. This lot was from a moving sale in several baggies with more modern cards but I notice a couple of cards from the 1957 and bought all five bags for .50 cents. I still kick myself for not looking through the year boxes this lady had for sale, you never know what you will find in the box. I also bought 50+ other items from her and twice in the past at garage sales and all three times I made more on selling one item that paid for all the other items combined. Let me say thanks one more time for the education, you help me out.
    Jim
