Need advice on purchasing photo software!!!

I am currently looking to purchase a Imaging software program so I can produce sharper images when scanning cards. I just purchased a Hewllet Packer scanjet 3970 scanner so all I need now is some recommendations on the best software program to get to produce sharper images. Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated.

  • I'm not sure if it's worth going out and buying an expensive software program like Adobe Photoshop because of the upload limitations on the registry. I scan the front and back of my cards on my Epson 1670 at 96 dpi and reduced to 93% to fit them within the 100kb limit. Because of that 100kb limit they can only be so clear. I did get Photo Impression 4 free with my Epson that works fine for combining the two scans. Take a look at my set for an example:

    Hope this helps....

I've an Epson 2400 that came with Adobe Photoshop Elements (not all the bells & whistles as full Photoshop). I scan at medium quality then reduce resolution to 125 dpi. My set ,also a 1969 is Here
