Why the high premiums on the new 2004 Moderns. I have seen MS67 Keel Boats and Peace nickels sell in the 40-50's, and MS 68's well into the hundreds.

Are the grading parameters more strict on moderns now that they are not giving out higher grades on them?

Seems ridiculous doesn't it? It seems a lot of moderns are way over rated and I too do not know the reasoning behind this. It seems to be the norm ever since the induction of the State Quarter program.

High grade 04 Jeffs are scarce,stupid money chasing what will be very common stuff in a year or two !

From what I hear the handshake coins are very tough in nice condition or high grade
but the keelboat is much easier.

I believe the current minting process for circulation coinage does'nt lend itself to producing vast amounts of MS65
plus coins,therefore,if you can get a high grade in a PCGS holder,you're going to make some profit.I saw an MS68 staehood quarter go for $202 on the Bay a few months back.It's ridiculous,but a good way to make money.
