The Robinson was one of the last cards Ray Boehm needed to complete his set. I don't know what the population of the card is but it always sells for premium of SMR.
I added (purchased; cost me $50) a Frank Robinson as a 9OC to complete the set. It was very clean and only OC T/B. This is a pretty tough card, doesn't pop up much for auction and is highly competed for in 8 or above. Witness the auction action on the link. Best of Luck if your chasing it; it alluded me more than a few times. :-) RayBShotz
<< <i>In my opinion it's as tough as Yaz in high grade. I did win a PSA 7 2 nights ago for $27.50 but my snipe would have been quite a bit higher if needed. >>
Dave,
My spreadsheet is a little behind. I'm only up to September 27th.
On a side note, it appears that you are well on your way to reaching your projected goal by year's end. Good luck.
Wow, that card has really jumped back to life. It originally was selling for $100-125, then as more were graded, it went down to as low as the $40s. It looks like they've been difficult to find of late. I paid around $80 for mine a few years back. It is one of the more challenging star cards and from the more difficult 3rd series.
Michael, What was my stated goal? I've forgotten with all the flip flops that I do. I'm thinking it was 75 %.
John, That's still a good price for a PSA 8. I had the '69 set complete but for 19 cards in raw condition ,before starting this graded quest. The only star cards that remained were : Jackson (and only because of the price), F. Robby, and Carew AS.
Wow, that Robinson really is getting up there I thought it was high in the mid $100's. Nice to see a good '69 thread on the board. I had taken a hiatus for a while because of lack of funds but am slowly getting back into working on the set. Magellan your set is really looking great I remember when we were neck and neck for a while.
Grady, Hi there ! I'm not sure if I've seen you post before. I just got here in February. It wasn't very long ago when we were neck and neck but I'm at the point where the grades can't rise as quickly as I have most of the weighted cards and it's harder to find the remaining commons. Good luck with your set, hope to see you climb back up again.
Dave is right on the Brock too as far as toughness goes, kinda forgot about him in my last post.
