    So, could this be a rare "midnight mint" half dollar struck later? Glued on "O" mintmark? It does look like real quarter.

    The reverse is a pre 1866 coin. Most likely an 1844-O.

    You can see where the two halves were glued together when you look at the edge of the obverse from 3:00 to 8:00.
