Hmm.. I was wondering about that.

    Still pretty cool! image

Can't really be judged as a coin, of course... more of a representational sculpture perhaps, but, maybe not; there is the Yap Stone Money from Micronesia roughly 10' and weighing up to 1000's of pounds to consider; if they were coins then I guess this is too.
Certainly interesting to see. I wonder what the ultimate fate of this piece is; to be melted down when the goldholders hit their $1000 an oz dream?

What a waste of good gold.
    All glory is fleeting.
  • Now that's a coin!!
Betcha they can't snatch and grab and run out the door with that baby.

Does anyone remember how big that huge Middle Eastern coin that was shown on the forum was?
I thought it was larger and heavier than this one.

If you mean the 1000 mohur piece, it is a little less than half the size of this piece. 467 troy oz

  • I wonder what the raw plate of gold weighed before the machining took place?
Curious as to how much they carved and polished off of that baby.
Makes you wish you could be there for the floor shavings...image

Hummm...I wonder if I could get it PCGS graded and slabbed too?

  • image I wouldn't mind driving a car with four of them. Of course, I'd have to ask lordM to drill a hole in each first. image
