Can anyone identify this Chinese coin?

I got this from a change machine at the supermarket checkout instead of a quarter.
I showed it to the checker and she was going to give me a quarter, but I said I'd keep this - maybe it's worth more than a quarter.
Thanks.

Ah - thanks. I got it near Camp Pendelton so it probably came back with a Marine.

<< <i>I got one of these once in Seattle from a coinstar machine. I guess they make their way into circulation from time to time. >>
<< <i>It's worth about 9 cents. >>
Does this mean we can dump these into a coinstar machine and make 16c apiece? Say it ain't so!

A little while back, people were taking South Korean 500 won pieces to Japan to use in vending machines as 500 yen coins. The machines would accept the 500 won and spew out yen in change. 500 is something like $4.50 while 500 won is about 45 cents. There are new 500 yen coins now so we can't play that game anymore.
<< <i>I suppose you could.
