If coins could talk...

Did you ever wonder what kind of stories a coin could tell if it could talk? I was looking thru my pile and found this guy. If you can't tell, it's a large cent that probably has more miles on it than Fedex and UPS put together. COK? Was some diemaker practicing his stamping just to find out he needed a reverse punch set to get it right? ..or is it Company K, as in military? I read somewhere that they used to stamp coins to guarentee authenticity. Is that it? How many items did this coin buy before it went in to retirement? How the heck did my dad end up with it?? What a great hobby. You guys post some beautiful pics of some gorgous coins but I sat and stared at this one for a long time before I decided to post it. Don't worry, I don't look at all coins like this

Where's ClarkOfKent? He needs to see this thing. Interesting counterstamp.
the picture is too small - I can't "COK"
Seriously, I love old large cents like this and I often wonder just what they have been up to and where.
Best,
