Hi, Sports folks. Thought I'd post an invitation to y'all, since I don't hang out here. (I'm a nerd, and usually hang out on the various coin forums with all the other nerds.)
If you've got any interest in treasure hunting or metal detectors, come visit us.
September is our third month of doing special forum awards.
First, the two "quantity" awards, which have already been awarded:
The winner in the MOST FACE VALUE US COINS award is phut, with a total of $40.08.
The winner in the MOST SILVER COINS award is Purple73, with a total of 3 silver coins found.
And now, the polls for the four "quality" awards:
BEST COIN/TOKEN award poll
BEST JEWELRY ITEM award poll
BEST RELIC/OTHER award poll
BEST "WILD CARD" FIND award poll
This is a new category for September, for the most interesting finds made without a detector, and in true "wild card" fashion, it can include coins found on the surface or even in circulation, and just about anything else, even nonmetallic objects such as pottery, fossils, minerals, bottles, etc., just to name a few.
You "treasure hunters" who don't have detectors are welcome to compete in future "Wild Card" category competitions from now on, so come on over and join the fun!

If you can invent a cardboard detector that will detect all rare and star cards that will grade psa 8 or better, you'll be holier than the holest of swiss cheese. You will be King of Kardboard!
Besides, metal detecting doesn't offer the collector a chance to chew on 40 year old gum.
