Take pictures before submitting?

In case something happened to the coin during grading, should I take some pictures before submitting them? And wondering has this even happened before?

I have read here (liteside forum) about such things happening as being accidentally scratched during the grading process. An article in Coin World within the past few weeks discussed the same thing, so, yes ... it can happen.

I would take good quality high resolution photos or scans of each coin if I were submitting any.

I find it easier to take a photo out of the slab anyway. So I usually take photos of coins before they are submitted.

I still haven't sent anything in for grading, but, like ajaan said, I'm sure it's easier to take good photos out of slab anyhow. Plus it's a good idea to keep a record before moving anything valuable so I'd say a definite yes.
  • image You can get better pictures before they end up in the slab, and good point about a record of condition in case something goes wrong.

Anyone ever get the wrong coin back ?

I have had slabs mislabeled with the type of coin...
