What forum members collect 1970 and earlier Cameo Proof and SMS coins?

One of my favorite areas of the hobby are 1970 and earlier Cameo Proof and SMS coins. What other forum members collect these coins?; and do any of you live in California (as I do)? I have acquired quite a few of these coins and am considering selling some of them. Does anyone have any interest? If so, please PM me.

    I got a 1969 NGC PF68/69 UCAM birthyear set. Do I count?

  • I know Russ and MadMarty do for sure. LucyBop may, but only where frosty looking Franklin halves are concerned from what I've seen of her grade postings.

Frattlaw, since you have your year set and since you picked up the 1911 cam dime and have a 1911 quarter which you view as cam, you count. How many coin collector lawyers do you know.
  • I love them especially the Kennedys.

  • I'm working on a couple things right now:

1963 PCGS DCAM set - still need the dime in 68/69DCAM

1950-58 Lincolns - still need the 56,57,58 in PCGS 67CAM or better

Thanks for bringing it up! image

You can't throw a stick around these Boards and not hit one. All of the lawyer/dealer/coin collectors are located right here.

I would estimate there has to be at least 10 or so. And about half are from California.

I have a Proof CAM 1882 half dollar and an 1861 dime I think would go CAM.

  • I dont collect them, I buy them raw and then get them graded at PCGS. Then I sell them. But I do like the way they look when they are all there! I like them all from the halves all the way thru to the cents. They are wonderful to look at when the they are high grade cameo's or deep cameo's. image

I would appreciate it if you - as well as about a hundred other people around here - would find something else to do. image

I have not submitted any of the cameos I have acquired for slabbing yet. If I did, the TPG would be busy for a day or so. To accomodate Russ's request I will hold off on submitting coins for slabbing, however I will not stop my hunt for cameos.

I love them all - cents thru dollars from 1936 to present. I was fortunate enough to complete a set of PCGS 1950 to present cam/dcam proofs in 2002 (all denominations).

Sorry I don't live in California - I would be interested in looking at your cameos.

Cameonut, I have a 1950-1970 cameo set myself. It is in upgrade mode for most. I still have a few coins, mostly minors that do not have any cameo appearance. Fun set to assemble raw. I have extras though and need to do something with them.

Myqqy, I also like cameo Frankies and have a complete set (part of my complete set discussed above), with extras. PM me on what holes you need to fill in your set and I will look at my extras to see if I have anything you need.
  • I do collect proof cam pre 1970.
