What is this dealer telling me. No, get lost, I didn't get your email

The easiest way to explain this is by 1,2,3,... steps

1. Several months ago I purchased a 1881S PCGSMS67 Morgan that's just busting out of it's grade from a pretty well known dealer off of eBay
2. I was put on their email list for their inventory updates and received them regularly
3. We've also exchanged a few emails back and forth and even a couple phone calls.
4. I received their last list dated Sep 21st. They have a NGC MS66DPL 81S Morgan.
5. I meant to click watch this item but put it in my cart instead. I closed out and it was no longer in my cart, but we exchanged emails about it and everything was still OK between us.
6. A couple days later I decided I was going to buy it. Since I had extra PCGSMS67 81Ss, one of them bought from them, I emailed and asked if I could use that one as a trade in on the 66DPL.
7. Well, it's coming up on 2 weeks and I haven't heard a thing back. I just checked their site and it's still in their inventory.

Did I do something wrong? If so, why won't they email me and say so?

  • I hate to bug them. I went through this with another dealer about 1 year ago. After 4 or 5 emails from me with no response I got the hint. It was embarrassing for me not to get the hint after a second email. Maybe it's just me.

Jerry, you're the customer, you're not bugging them. If you are, then you need to dump them, not vice versa.

Sometimes emails get lost or forgotten.

Call them on the phone and talk to them directly.
  • I agree, Call them.

How hard is it for them to say Yes, No or Maybe.

    Sets Complete:
    Eisenhower Dollar, BU

    Set Incomplete:
    Roosevelt Dime
1900 - Current Type, No Gold
    Silver Eagle
  • I believe they will be at the St. Louis show this weekend which I hope to attend. I am going to ask them face to face...not being confrontational though, just kind of "what happened" The thing is though, if they had emailed back and said they would rather not take any trade ins, I would have gone ahead and bought the coin outright. Thanks everybody for the comments.

Yup. Whether they got the e-mails or not, there's nothing like a personal phone call or a face-to-face to take care of business.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
