Are Morgan dollar die varieties expensive?

Or can a fair number be had cheap?

Alot dont even carry a premium, but when you get into the top 100 vams...they start to get more expensive.

I think obtaining those would be fun, do you do that?

I just got a 84-o with a filled O from poorguy. Its a very interesting coin, but carries no premium. I dont really collect VAMs, but want to get the book, so I can start looking out for rarer Varieties.

I assume you are talking about the VAM book. It's a really great book every collector should try to have in his/her library. It should be titled "Everything you wanted to know about Morgan Dollars, but were afraid to ask."

Everything is a die variety. And all but a handful are not worth anything extra. Even a number of the top 100 vams are not worth much over normal.
