Ok..confusion...help...Shop At Home...proof sets...????

I am stupid...I admit it...I turned on Coin Vault for "background noise" and something caught my ear....

They are selling 2004 Silver and Clad proof sets for ONLY $149.95 (down from $199.95)...as if that isn't bad enough (what is it? ~$50 worth of STILL available proof sets from the mint for triple the cost???)....they then kick into the same for 2003 and it is selling for $109. Then, the 2000 sets (silver and clad) are $99.96.

Now, I know the 2000 sets are going for less (close to issue). and this is "only" roughly 2x the going rate.

But, I just can't see why they actually expect, and probably get, people to spend 3x current AVAILABLE rate for the 2004 silver and clad...and, why the 2003 are for less for them (yeah...the 2004 has the extra nickel, but geez!)

So, any guesses on the price gouging for the 2004 sets, above the normal gouging????

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • For the same reason the mint just sold out of Lewis and Clark pouches. People are dumb.

Coin Vault does make for great background noise and really good comedy !

That takes some serious stones to sell a product for 3x its value when you can hop online and buy it direct for 3x less..... image
