Can anyone tell me why the 1968 D MS 68 Pop 1 PCGS Washington Quarter on David Lawrence web site has not sold. Started out at 4K now $2,640.
For a top registry set of clad quaters this would seem to me to be a must have addition. Why is it not moving.
Help me with comments as I am ready to make an offer. The chances of this date ever grading this high agin is remote.
In my opinion, unless I missed something this is a modern rarity not to be repeated.

prices yet. The '68-D quarter is sometimes one of the finest of the obsolete clad quarters in
mint sets. It comes with beautiful smooth surfaces and full crisp strikes. While coins in rolls
are difficult to find, this is one of the more common of the early rolls. There was interest in
this date early on because it was the lowest mintage and because it was the first with the
mint mark on the obverse. Complicating the issue is that in those days the fed sometimes left
coins in storage. Even after this practice was changed in 1972 there were still large numbers
of the '68-D in storage until the last were released in 1975. Roll coins of this date sometimes
come pretty nice too, though clean examples with full strikes may not exist in the few rolls that
were saved.
It has always surprised me that there isn't a lot more interest in these coins. Many of these
early clads are difficult to find in even choice condition though this isn't one of them.
