Regrade question

I recently sent in a few coins for regrading. I thought that coins that weren't upgraded were kept in the original holders, but the coins came back in new holders at the same grade! Is that the current policy at PCGS, to reholder any coin submitted for regrade review? Now I will have to rescan some of them, as they were in old-green holders before!

The coins are supposedly removed from their holders in order to be re-graded.

They always do that--coins are cracked and graders see them raw, not knowing they are being regraded.

  • OK thanks - I thought I had heard or seen somewhere that the holders wouldn't be touched. As long as that is policy, it is OK - I just thought maybe something had got messed up.
