WOW, I thought Fb Roosies were hot, but it looks like the non-bands have heated up at a feverish pace!

Well, I knew it would happen - I sell my set and then I'm dropped to #2.......great going High Seas! So, who is High Seas???? Inquiring minds want to know?

It looks like High Seas updated his FB set too. He's #2 on the FB registry with 100% full bands.
I wonder if the High Seas Roosevelt set is any relation to the High Desert Type set. Both sets
    are closed.

    Craig,
Sure, but we all know Nick's set seriously lacked "eye appeal." imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

    Nick,
I see my humor "hit home." I got exactly the response I'd expect from a man who was insecure about his ability to evaluate a coin's merit....Let me say it in public: I apologize --- I'm sorry your coins lack eye appeal!!!!!!!!!image

Seriously, what a cool graphic!!!! I love your response!!image

"insecure about his ability to evaluate a coin's merit"

Bill, I believe there have been several post about how eye appeal factors into the
determination of the grade of a coin. In fact I just read some of your replies to a
post about your new PCGS MS68 Roosie where monster color and superb eye appeal
could add 1 to 2 points to the grade. I'm sure most everyone who post here
feels PCGS is the toughest grading service there is. How many PCGS MS68 Roosies
have you slabbed?. At last count I have slabbed 12...... I guess every last one
of them must have lacked eye appeal....image Or PCGS got the grade wrong....Right.

    Nick,
Facts are facts: I concede your unmatched ability to find mark free roosies and submit them repeatedly until you receive PCGS 68simage

As for eye appealing coins you have possessed for a short period of time -- I answer --- on occasion, even a blind pig finds an acorn -- Only random chance could explain your 46, 52S, and a few more eye appealing coins you've had -- After years of cogitation (a la Jethro Bowdeen on the Beverly Hillbillies) I can only think of them as being "accidents" among your normal blah submissions....

After intense statisical analysis, I postulate that you sent these gems in to "set up" your less eye appealing brilliant bullion pieces, and were shocked by the positive results!!!!!imageimageimageimageimage

Sorry Nick, you're absolutely right!image Fixed!

However...I have a feeling that, although a very difficult (not to mention expensive) task, your FB set maybe over-taken someday in the not too distant future.image

Keith, Truth is It has already been over taken. The over taker just hasn't registered his set yet.
When he is ready to register his set be prepared to see the most incredible Roosevelt Dime Set
ever assembled. This will be a set that will never be rivaled.

    Craig,
There is no bickering -- only having fun!! No one, certainly not I, would question Onlyroosie's ability to slab high grade roosies....he's slabbed more than anyone I know!!! .....That said, Nick's favorite look -- a little smudge of gold on a MS 68 -- ain't my type of color!!imageimageimageimageimage

But, his creative graphic above does touch my funnybone!!!image

Bill, Your right about one thing, Your look and my look are two different looks.
I love rim toning with a white center. Here's a few of my favorites.

The 1951S MS68 now resides in Butch's set. Boy do I wish I had this coin back. I originally offered
it to Bill and he passed.....A little to much dripping white luster on the obverse for Bill....image Colorfullcoins
scooped it up and after he sold his set it landed with Butch. A center piece coin for any set.
Butch, Let me know when you want to sell the 51S back.

David, The coin was sold to Lance (Federal Coin & Bullion, Inc.). I'm sure he wont mind me giving out the info since I
see it in his case for sale at every show along with the NGC 1939D MS69FB I sold him that you also made.

LOOKING FOR 1931-s merc that is nice for the grade and fb
  • Thanks Guys but it is off of the market right now image

    Nick,

I agree with you about the super set being out there right now that will blow all others away. I know it has most of your old set and it also has my favorite coin from my "old" set that now is in a 68 holder

    image

The pictures don't do it justice and it is the coin I regret selling everytime I think about it. And I also know the coin would go FB if ever resubmitted.

Oh well, it will be interesting to see the complete set if it ever goes online.

Butch, I keep a photo of your 1946 on my computer. It is one of my favorite coins. We all have a coin or 2
we regret selling. Two I regret selling and will probably never see again are the 51S MS68 you now have and
the 54S MS68 that resides in the super collection I spoke about.

Speaking of monster 55D's. Does this one fit the criteria.

Assuming that that 55D has not been retouched, and assuming that that 55D does not have huge marks (would be better examined and criticized with a greattoning photo blown up to 2500%), and assuming that the sun will come up tomorrow, that coin might/possibly/could be considered (by some) to be a potentially eye appealing roosie....there, I said it!!!!!!!!image
