Just found this in a fresh Mint roll, that i finally took time to put in 2x2's What's up with this? by the way, it's a Louisiana Purchase, haven't scanned the reverse yet.

Scan at the highest DPI your scanner will handle.
Do a preview scan first. There will be a dotted line and "handles" you can use to crop the result of the scan. Crop out everything you don't want.
The result will be a higher quality image of just what you want to see. You will need to use a photo editor to reduce the image to 72DPI and whatever size is necessary to bring the image down to 50K to upload here, OR...
Call your service provider and have them set up your server space, then do an internet search for "FTP client", download one of the many freebies and follow the directions to upload your images. If you do this, it won't matter how large the images are.
The 50K limit is ONLY for those who upload images to the CU site. If you are uploading to your own space, then you can use the little picture button at the top of the new message screen (when you post) to link to your picture on your server space.
It all sounds a bit more complicated than it is, especially once you do it once or twice and get a handle of it.
