2004-D Jeff, 3 chins, Fresh from Mint roll

Just found this in a fresh Mint roll, that i finally took time to put in 2x2's What's up with this? by the way, it's a Louisiana Purchase, haven't scanned the reverse yet.

Comments

  • I hate this scanner, it's new, and lexmark, can't get my scans below the 50K limit, and when i do, the pics suck.
  • I can't see anything in the coin because the image is too small. But I really like your icon image! image

I see a normal coin. Can you point out the three chins? Maybe put arrows in the picture?

It might help if you cropped out everything but the coin.

  • Neat find. The top chin, I can see almost a full silhouette of Jeffersons face. image

  • Thanks, I bought 15 Rolls when they first came out, this is the first roll i broke open, and several have this similiar effect, while others look alot like either hub doubling, or machine, possibly Double dies? I need to get a good digital camera, I also have a dime that has 3 or 4 images one the obverse, those images are much clearer.

    Bradford...try this:

Scan at the highest DPI your scanner will handle.

Do a preview scan first. There will be a dotted line and "handles" you can use to crop the result of the scan. Crop out everything you don't want.

The result will be a higher quality image of just what you want to see. You will need to use a photo editor to reduce the image to 72DPI and whatever size is necessary to bring the image down to 50K to upload here, OR...

Call your service provider and have them set up your server space, then do an internet search for "FTP client", download one of the many freebies and follow the directions to upload your images. If you do this, it won't matter how large the images are.

The 50K limit is ONLY for those who upload images to the CU site. If you are uploading to your own space, then you can use the little picture button at the top of the new message screen (when you post) to link to your picture on your server space.

It all sounds a bit more complicated than it is, especially once you do it once or twice and get a handle of it.
