1980-D Lincoln cent.

I just found a lincoln from a roll that has a partial filled die on his head. You can barely make out the bridge of his nose and it looks like he is about to fade out of the picture. On the reverse the steps are almost a clean state and there are two die craks at the foot of the steps in the field as if Lincoln himself left them. I'll try to post a pic in a little bit. Is this common on his head?
