Books for over $2,000....but who's book??

I have been looking to purchase a 69T Mantle WL but when I ran across this listing I was amazed. SMR has the graded card at $500 yet the seller says ungraded it is worth $2k. Can anyone explain this or are my math skills really that bad???
Link to Listing
In case my link (first time trying) does not work the eBay item # is 5126617739

    Dave,
I don't have my Beckett with me, but he's probably quoting high Beckett monthly (and rounding it off to the nearest thousand) in order to create a false illusion that he's offering something better than what he's got. I am shocked that such a thing would happen - this must be a first in the annals of eBay.image

  • I guess I am just naieve; I cannot understand why a seller with a high rating/reputation would do this inflating or, conversely, why a seller that does this has such a high rating??? I also believe in the tooth fairy.

  • It's called marketing. Haven't you ever read any real estate listings, then actually seen the house that is being described?

That's pretty funny, Mark. Do you think I can sell some of my vintage commons using Beckett highs rounded off to the nearest thousand?
  • The PSA 5 White Letter books for $725.

That is pretty far from $2k

I think it is wishful thinking!
