Who Else Likes Type One SLQ's ?

I think they are one of the nicest coins we ever minted. Here's one that I imaged I while back:

    I personally prefer type 2, but that's a great picture of a beautiful coin. I especially like the way you captured the luster on the reverse!



    PS: What is that one graded?

    I agree, the Type 1 SLQ's are one of the most beautiful U.S. coin designs. That one is a nice specimen. image

    beautiful 25c!!! That blueish cast in the reverse lustre is in the image not on the coin right? It is hard to tell from the image. Nice photo too image

    Correct. That color is from the sky. A perfect example of why I now shoot with a light difuser.

    Here's one that's an ANACS 62FH. It is actually better looking than the picture and has what looks like album toning, I'm not a great photographer. I actually have 2 more nice circulated ones too. I plan on hoarding nice circulated type ones if I can find them not overpriced. I've noticed that most of these, even unattractive beat up circulated ones, tend to be overpriced for some reason.

    Only a 64??? I think that looks nicer than both my 66FH 1916's. Beautiful pictures.

    Not only is the right breast exposed on the TI (not chain mail clad as on the TII), but on a TI Liberty has a different hairdo, the eagle on the reverse is flying lower, there is a dot between UNITED and AMERICA, and the font for UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is different.Edited to add: Also, the Type One has no stars under the eagle on the reverse.

    I love SLQs, but I love the Type One the best!

    A beautiful Rubenesque Liberty on coin...you can't get anymore artful than this...controversial back then but imagine producing a coin like this today...it would never make it off the drawing board...a top fave of mine.

    IMO, the SLQ is the most beautiful U.S. coin of the 20th century.

    I like all SLQs, but the type one is the better looking of the two. I don't like the stars under the eagle on the reverse of the type two as it squishes the lettering above the eagle together.

    Hey, just curious here. Are there any instances of the type one reverse die being coupled with a type two obverse die??? I really like the chainmail shirt Liberty wears on the type 2 better than the bare breast design and my ultimate SLQ would have type 1 reverse and type 2 obverse.

    Nope, no TI reverse with a TII obverse. (I read Cline's SLQ book and there was no mention of such a coin in the book, and Cline should know.)

    Walker and SLQ are tied in my opinion...both are beautiful...
