The Coin Fraternity

After reading some of the recent threads I had a momentary flash of reason. Yes, it's scary, I'm thinking!

But anyway, the fraternity of rare coin collectors is pretty small. There are not that many of us, and we share a brotherhood and common interest in numismatics. No, we don't all collect (buy or sell) the same series, but were all in this boat together.

It would be nice if we could set aside the stuff that divides us and spend more time enjoying the hobby and one anothers company. I really like the posts where people share great coin pics, explain the nuances of a particular series, explain the minting process, how errors come about, or the chemical reactions that cause great toning.

Next time you feel like posting something negative, I ask that you also think about posting something that can advance the hobby. We all have stuff to share, and things we want to learn.

I can understand your desire to change the subject, but this discussion is very good for the hobby. Bad coins and bad dealers are destroying my hobby.

Scott, I hear what you are saying.

However, I would like to break the necks of the people who indoctrinated me in my numismatic knowledge year ago. It was an expensive lesson. If we can educate collectors before they get raped, I'll feel a lot better.

Protecting the interests of Newer Collectors and the unsuspecting is part of the Coin Fraternity. Sometimes this Must be done in a Negative manner. Those who wish to see the Hobby advance and flourish also wish to see the Scum hit the road.

Well said. And some members of this "fraternity" are willing to stick their necks out far enough to face litigation for daring to expose practices that ripoff newbies and less knowledgeable collectors.

If I wanted 24X7 coin pix, I'd go elsewhere.
