How long does PCGS take to enter your coins...

into their database after you turn them in for grading? Example: I turned in 33 coins in for grading at the Long Beach Show on the 10th of September. When I do a submission check it displays that the coins were entered on the 17th for 3 of the colonials and on the 18th for the rest. Does the turn around time start from when the receive the coins or when they are entered into the PCGS database?image

  • The clock starts when they are entered, so if they sit in their receiving department for a few days, nobody knows about it.

  • So, I add on another 7/8 days because PCGS needs to hire more people to keep with the demand?

You aren't buds with Frattlaw by any chance? If so, that would explain why PCGS waited so long to enter your coins.

They are usually entered the same day they are received, or the next day- the end result seems to be they are usually entered within about 24 hours of being recieved.

The ANA show orders I dropped off last month on Thur. and Sat of the show did not get entered until the following Tues., Wed, and Fri., but 3 of the 4 orders were processed in lees than the normal time so everything so far has worked out well timewise.

    1) The 15 day order was done in 8 days from entry.

2)The modern order was donoe in about 3 weeks from entry

    3) The pedigree order was done in 2.5 weeks from entry (typically this varies from 2-4 weeks)

    4) The economy order is still pending- it was entered on 8/25; it was dropped off at the PCGS booth on Sat of the ANA show.

Russ, I have never met the man! Even if I have, I guess I wouldn't fess up to it now!

FooDude, I hope you're right and the turnaraound is expedited!

jcping, With all the submissions, don't you think they should hire someone (even part time) to expedite the process.

Also, when I was submitting the below mentioned coins I had 100 more to submit but they informed me that I had to have prior approval from "Debbie?" to get the reduced rate. I asked the person helping me to go over to the end of the table and ask David Hall if it was OK. She wouldn't do it. I took the 100 coins home with me. Some I took to NGC!
