1862 - has some problems but is a very scarce date, some would say rare, in this high grade. Interestingly, it comes after the date 1861 where it was believed that 601,920 were minted. No coins of that date have ever been found. It is now assumed that coins dated 1860 or 1862 were minted in 1861. For years, 1862 was deemed an unremarkable date in the Victorian series, being valued little more than the others. It is now one of six most sought-after dates, the others being 1848, 1854, 1863, 1878 (DRITANNIAR error) and 1893 (Jubilee Head).
