  • Oh and it's blatantly obvious (to me anyway) that it won't go full bands, so don't bother to strain your eyes looking too closely at the torch.

It's also obvious that this coin is slabbed, so it's quite possible the stray scratch or tick mark you see may be on the plastic and not the coin. I don't actually have it in hand yet, so I can't say for sure.

  • It's a 67. And don't you ever sleep?

I would grade it an MS66 because of the mark on the neck under the chin.

Nice coin. MS64-65 depending on the luster. mike

God I hope you're right about it being a 67. The thing that looks like a scratch and dig to the jaw worried me, too, but I'll have to wait for it to arrive to see if it's on the coin or just the slab. I have quite a few gem 49-S coming. Most are raw, but a few are in third tier slabs, like this one. I hope at least one of them comes back a 67 (or better!!).

And, yes, I do sleep, just weird hours. I don't go to work until 4PM EST so I wake up around 2:30 in the afternoon to start getting ready. I make work the start of my day, not the end, so I generally stay up all night.

If you want an MS67 you need a full strike with booming luster or a bump for color. No bump
for color here. Always check the obverse and reverse rim lettering for weakness in the strike.
Yep.... You have a weakly struck coin. Luster?. What luster, Wheres the luster.... Looks like
strike 3 to me. No major marks so you do have that going for you, MS67....No. MS66...Maybe.
    MS65....More likely.

I think Onlyroosies nailed it....the coin is weakly struck about the margins which isn't unusual but the coin needs something to compensate for that weakness - toning of luster/flash. For a coin like this one with that weakness and the mark under the jaw, its has to have a look that just screams MS67 to the grader or its going to grade lower......and I'd also say that PCGS is wickedly tough on white coins lately so I agree with Onlyroosies....MS66 at best (60% probability) and MS65 if PCGS is grading tough (40% probability)....

It looks very clean. If it were toned, it would be 67 for sure.

  • Onlyroosies is right. The weakness about the reverse lettering will keep this an MS66. The luster looks good to me. ACG slab? I have had several ACG 67's go PCGS66 so that wouldn't be unprecedented! F*¢l< Alan Hagar anyway it grades out.

Best of luck on it sliderider

Great looking coin. I say it's MS67. It should make 67 on the merits of how incredibly clean it is as well as a good strike. (I said good strike,
    not great strike).

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
