Has anyone seen this counterstamp before? Can't find it in Brunk or elsewhere.

Looks similar to a couple of the more 'elaborate' chop marks that I've seen on Trade Dollars before... I will try and find some reference photos...

I looked around a bit and could not find references to it. My memory isn't the greatest, but I believe that I've seen that mark on a legit circulated trade dollar before that had three other chop marks on it. If I stumble across it again in the future, I'll make sure and let you know.

It appears to be the mark of a stylized chrysanthemum, the official symbol of the Emporer of Japan. I have seen these before and they appear on many things other than coins.

It has the chrysthanthemum design that I believe is Japanese.

I've seen chopmarks on coins other than trade dollars, myself. One that springs to mind is a chopmarked seated quarter I saw on ebay once about three years ago. Maybe this is one that circulated in the orient for a while.
