A number of people have. Do a search for the handle here and you'll find a number of threads.
  • I wouldn't buy from him. His pics suck. They make everything look like ultra DCAM when they might be borderline CAM at best. Russ made a thread recently showing how you can make a dog of a proof look DCAM with the right lighting and camera angles.

  • I have made some purchases from him and have been very satisfied....He has a return policy, so I was not worried.

I have also purchased from him and have been severely disappointed. Yes, he has a return policy, but on raw material that you send in to be graded, that will surpass the time frame. I purchased coins that were supposed to have been DMPL, I have one body bag, two PL's and one DMPL so far. You may say, not bad, but then you add in the fact that he overgraded every single one by at least two points, and his pictures didn't reflect the actual look of the coins. Sliderider was right on with his comments.
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.
  • I have also, send him an email and he will tell you the real story, Dan

Yes, he has a return policy. And, if you follow his auctions you'll find that it gets used a lot. He also charges a restocking fee.

Jeff is a good photographer from the selling aspect, but i think it's a little more legitimate when a seller attempts to portray a coin's actual appearance, not enhance it. he also tends to grade a point high, but that may be nothing more than an opinion thing. what i think is most telling about him----approximately two years ago he stopped selling almost exclusively PCGS/NGC holdered coins and embarked on the slippery-slope of selling PCI and raw coins. as a result, i seldom view his auctions anymore since returns are just a hassle if needed.

  • Dude is good with the camera !
He keeps running the same 57 proof set at like a 100 bucks RAW,if the coins were even close, they would be in slabs and worth about 10 grand !

That is one that has sold and been returned.

I bought two proofs from Jeff and was very satisfied. However, that was in the days when he sold PCGS coins. I don't buy PCI or raw, so I no longer buy from Jeff. You need to assume that on average, that PCI is one or two grades higher than a PCGS grade of the same coin, and a designation higher (PR, CAM, DCAM). I assume that Jeff is still an honorable businessman, but he no longer deals in my space.

Of course, as with everything, honorable is based on perception. To me, IMHO, selling cleaned, and questionable coins, is not honorable. I spent over $1k with him, I have about $400 worth of coins. Now the loss is mine, it's been an education. I'm man enough to say it was my fault to have purchased from him, but I will pass on my education do those who might not know better. I know grading is also a questionable art based on one's experience and perception too. I have "seriously" collected coins for only the past few years. In that short time, I've seen enough material to know, or descern a coins grade by having it in hand. Now this is a guy with 30 years collecting experience, he's is grading his raw material 2-3 points over what is the norm. Once I had the coins in hand I questioned his grading, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Lesson learned, don't deal with him, and warn others of the impending doom if they do.
