Walker strikes

I know very little of the Walker Half series. That being said, I've been looking around at alot of them and what's the deal with the flat strike on so darn many of them? Her hand and thigh look nasty flat on even mid-grade Unc coins. Is it uber rare to find a fully struck Walker?

There are some better struck dates such as the 1934, 1936, 1939, 1940 and 1942 and even 1943. Usually the San Francisco dates such as the 1940-S and 1941-s are weak.

  • Check out a book called Walking Liberty Half Dollars by Anthony Swiatek. It has all the info you're going to need regarding strike for each coin of the series. You can pick it up at Brent-Krueger for less than 10 bucks. It's definitely worth the cash if you think you're going to collect them. BTW... S-mint coins have sucky strikes. You'll pay a premium for anthing that looks like it might have a hand!!
