  • ok thats obvious... i guess my question should be.... if i wanted to buy some.. where would i go to buy them without the markup that ebay/coinshows etc will have

  • I got mine off ebay with very little mark up compared to catalogue value, you just gotta suffer postal costs

eBay is probably the best place to get them, or you can go to some big dealer. You can't get them directly from the mint -- they only sell to dealers who buy a huge quantity of them and can "make a market" for them.

I get them raw and slabbed for $30 over spot on 1oz'ers from my local dealer
    Prost!

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.

www.golddealer.com Has the cheapest markup on them of anywhere I've ever seen them.

As an informational post, the U.S. Mint sells the Unc Silver Eagle $1 coin only to dealers who are required to buy them in large volume. These dealers (less than 20) then sell them in the secondary market to smaller dealers who sell them on ebay, at coin shows, in Coin World... etc. Bullion (both silver and gold) cannot be purchased directly from the U.S. Mint. I hope this clarifies this for you.

$7.79 each for silver eagles, but you have to buy 500 LINK to Tulving web site.

What exactly are you looking for?

  • When I need to get one for each new year as they come out, I usually go to a coin show.
There are always several dealers selling them at the shows.

  • OK thanks all for your posts....and letting me know how they get to the public.

I actually was just curious about htem as u see advertisements on tv and other that have silver eagles for $10 or something likethat... and if u buy from the mint u pay a lot more... then i realized they were reg strikes and understood the price difference but still didnt know where/how these were obtained...as I would buy a bunch to give out to my cousins/nephew/niece/neihbor kids if I could buy then cheap....

I always do my best to eliminate the possiblity of a middle man when I buy things... and wanted to look into the same here....

Anyone know of a wholesale flip dealer? image

Whoo boy, here we go again! image You can usually pick up Eagles at most coin shows or dealers....the Internet has some online dealers as well. Don't pay more than about $8 for the silver, and $50 for the tenth ounce gold, though. Truth be told, when I read the title of the thread, I thought you were asking about $10 gold pieces, also known as eagles... image

On a slightly different note, not sure if you were around here when this thread was posted, but it explains my comment about the wholesale flips.
