copper corrosion

Hi David:

Thanks for the time you spend answering questions on the forum.

I would appreciate hearing your thoughts about how a very small spot of corrosion on a copper coin (for example, something next to a letter that is black and not a carbon spot), would the coin be body bagged? If the coin was an MS65 candidate without the spot, how badly would the spot effect the grade? Thanks again, Coinkat

With spots it's a matter of how gig, how many, and where. Spotting on copper coins is definitely a negative. One minor spot might not effect the grade of a MS65...depending on how you define the word "minor." With spots, it's all a matter of degree.

    Thanks,

    David
