At a local shop today, someone came in a dumped three tremendous large boxes of Us Mint products. Multiple examples of various proof sets, prestige sets, commem sets, and other stuff. Mostly from the late 80's foward. All in all about 13k dollar worth.

Sorry folks, no 95-w silver eagle, I already checked!

Usually batches like this comprise about a fifteen year run and end about three or four years
before you see them. The longest runs are typically only 25 years. These batches, essentially,
are the sole source for moderns.

In the past the coins acquired by most dealers like these would be wholesaled to a large buyer
at about 90% of bid. The sets would usually get busted up and the better material would end
up at a big retailer. Now days the process is pretty similar except that many more of these will
be kept around for retail sales.
