painting cents w/ mercury is something a lot of kids would do like in chem lab, etc, back in junior high or high school. i imagine that they don't let kids anywhere near mercury these days though (poisonous)
btw, don't paint mercury onto any silver coins you like, it totally screws up the coin.
I was thinking silver plating, but mercury is probably correct. (P.S. don't get mercury on gold either, I've seen a gold ring that had mercury adhered to it, looks like pewter.)

Come on Russ...it's a nice, bright, shiny chrome (or mercury dipped) 1958-D. I'm sure coppercoins has a designation for it right?
<< <i>Not AT but UGLY! >>
Ugly is a sub-category of the crud category, thus this piece would be classified as ugly crud, or UC.

Yes it does.

<< <i>Must be Chrome, don't think mercury sticks to copper, as does gold and silver? I say chrome.... >>
It does, my science teacher last year coated one with mercury, and it stuck to it and stayed on.
