The Official Detroit beats Philly Thread

I think the eagles are going to get exposed up in motown in a few days. The Lions are not getting
respected at 2-0 and a butt kicking of the eagles would land them on the map.

I think the eagles are full of hot air. Lions will take care of business!

I predicted the Lions to win their division, and they are certainly off to a great start. This is a game that makes me a little nervous, but all in all I will still have to say

    E A G L E S EAGLES!!!!

Joe, I know that deep down you are an Eagles Phan.

We will welcome you to bleed green. Don't you think it is about time?

If you are a better, taking the Lions is not a big to do. This could be a Philly loss with Monday night
now behind them. Look at what the Bears did to Green Bay after week one's victory for the Pack.
The defense looked average and poor against the run. However, to say the Eagles will be exposed
is simply idiotic. They are one of the best teams in the league. If your goal was to get a rise from
a Birds fan it worked. If your goal was to show a lack of knowledge of pro football, that worked too!image

Lions are usually tough at home and the Eagles are coming off an emotional Monday Night win. But the Lions are 2 - 0 and don't "need" the game. The Lions just aren't good enough to start this season 3 - 0. It could be a close game, but the Eagles will definitely find a way to win. That's what joestalin doesn't quite understand. With the players the Eagles aquired during the off season, this team is different from last year, and the previous two years. You could see on Monday night how TO and Kearse made the difference in winning the game against a very good team.

Aconte is dead-on of course as is Da Beef and everyone else took the bait.

I know Joe can't be half as stupid as he sounds, but this is a really lame comeback after being embarrassed by his own team two weeks in a row and never giving Philly respect.

"1420".....I'm gonna have to look you up at the next Iggles game...stop playing with Stalin and put the pesty imp in his place!

  • Hey Joey, why don't you show us some more fancy stat charts to back up your prediction.

    Don't sweat it Eagles fans.

    Eagles 28
    Lions 17

  • JS -

Since you seem to be stuck in the past tell us how the Lions will beat the Eagles when Detroit has won only 1 playoff game since 1957.
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
Im not saying the Lions are going to playoffs, Im saying they will expose an overrated team this sunday!

...and the last time the Lions made the playoffs....who beat them??? not the eagles!

    Look it up

Maybe, but the last time the Eagles played them in the playoffs the Eagles whooped them. Has Detroit made the playoffs since?

So what is your point Joe?

  • Detroit has some talent on offense, but their D is questionable. Granted, they are already missing their best defensive player in Bly and a speedster in Boss Bailey, but their D-Line has played pretty well so far against the run by keeping Jones and Domanick in check for the first 2 games. Their LB's looked much stronger last game, but they need more blitzes to take some of the long pressure of the DB's. I'm excited about Williams and Jones looked much better last week. Harrington has been more efficient and the O-Line looks good.

I still am not a true believer yet as my poor Lions have been struggling for years, but they do have the first proven winner as a coach in Detroit w/ Mooch. With that being said, I believe the game will be quite close. For those who have followed Detroit over the last few years, they have certainly lost a lot of games over that span but rarely by more than 7 points. This is mainly because they had no running game and were forced to throw which usually resulted in interceptions. They usually seem to stay in the game and lose with young mistakes. But they do play very tough at home. If they can run this year like they showed a little last week, they will be playoff bound. With that being said, I still predict a 24-20 Eagles win image

  • Good to hear some educated info on your team.

Mariucci will certainly make sure that he has a great QB and Harrington is probably the guy. I have a lot of respect for Mooch - the wife was is an ex 49ers fan.

She converted to the Eagles this year after we went to the NFC Champ game and I reminded her every week that her team should really be called the "7 and 9ers". Witnessing firsthand the extreme fandom in Philly and at the Linc impressed her and made her start thinking about switching teams. She is currently in the Eagles fan probationary period and proving her loyalty. I issued her a replica jersey and she'll get the authentic one when she makes the grade.

I agree that the Detroit secondary may be at risk this week. The Eagles D-backs are in the same boat but played a pretty good game against the Vikes.

Look for the Eagles D to play the same loose game between the 30's and tighten up closer to the goal.

The O may play the same game too. Mix runs with short passing to the backs and tight ends. Wait until the right time and go long to TO. If they let McNabb get out of the pocket the O will run well.

Good luck this week. Your coach is great and will bring the Lions back to where they were some years ago.

And yet another week of pompous over the top hyperbole from Joe...he would give the ghost of Howard Cosell a run for the money in that department.

And when it is YOU Joe that gets exposed for your primary weakness, bias against a team affecting your judgement, should we look forward to yet another week in which you and your predictions run amok?

Your hot air could single handedly fill a hot air balloon.image
  • Just wanna remind Joe of yet another horrid prediction......

P.S. If you weren't on the hook already for $5 Paypal with baggypants I'd make you pay on this prediction too....but, the Iggles winning and Bucs losing is payment enough already image

Smoke 'em if you got 'em Eagles fans. The Birds are the only team to win all of their games by more than 10 points. Bring on da Bears!
  • Detroit made too many early mistakes and couldn't keep Philly at bay. Was a larger spread than I expected, but the outcome was the same. McNabb was solid, but I'm tellin' ya... Roy Williams is a stud. Bye week is a good thing. image

A good win against an overrated team! Roy Williams was carving up the Eagles D better than Moss ever
dreamed of! If the Eagles lose TO to injury they are really in trouble, no one other than mabe Westbrook
looked good. McNad is also looking good but he will choke in the big game ...you all know that!

Are Eagle fan really pumped about a win against the Lions??

    I don't think so

No matter what happens you always manage to put down another team while your sorry a$$ team is winless.

There were 5 scenarios - here's what you would have said for each
Eagles win big - Boy Lions really suck - Eagles have a sorry schedule
Lions win big - Man I'm a genius I called this win, I knew Philly sucked
Eagles win by a little - Wow, Eagles can't even beat a bad team by a lot, boy the Lions choked!
Lion win by a little - Damn, McNad choked! I knew the Lions would win!
Game ends in a tie - I knew neither team was good enough to win!

    Make up your mind JS.
    McNabb was sharp.
The D played better than your sorry a$$ Bucs.

The Lions were exposed, not the Eagles.

Let's see what you have to say later tonight when your QB-less team gets hosed.
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
how can you say this was a good performance on defense when you were up against a 2 year pro
at QB, an rb who was seeing his first snaps and a rookie WR and you still get torched for multiple
scores?? We all know Philly can put up points but what is going to happen when you play a
    decent defense??

If you all expect to get rings, then you are going to have to be able to stop teams. Onterrio was
running wild Monday, and now Williams was looking like Jerry Rice! That one play were your
whole defense missed him was just silly!

If a rookie is getting all over you, then you are in trouble!

    JS

  • 256 total yards, 179 of that was passing, 5 sacks, and Harrington was 21 for 38.

Last week you talked about giving up 400 yards per game.

If only the Bucs D could make those improvements.

Good luck watching Sapp take Johnson out tonight, and then chase the Sims boy out of his adult diaper.

Any way you look at it your prediction was way off.

The Eagles are a team that has depth and can adjust.

The Bucs hung their hat on an aging mediocre QB and rested on their laurels while the D got older and players realized they could make more money elsewhere. Gruden needs to build a team, not just work with what Dungy left him.

I'll enjoy seeing Chuckie make his appearance early in the game tonight.

why are you ignoring that Roy Williams ran your defense all around the yard! I was looking at the back of his
jersey and expecting to see the name "Rice" but I saw Williams so then I just figured that they were playing
your soft team and I was right!

Deep??? LOL, I wish I had a buck for eveyone one that Mitchell and others dropped! This is the same choke
team that has lost 3 stratight at home plus TO....is that enough? no

Just when you think Joe shifts more than excuses as to why we are in Iraq you have to bring him back to jarring reality in the only way you can to a "post-shifter"....my name for someone who keeps altering their position until it looks NOTHING like the arguement they started with.

So Joe...in fact ...eat your words ...again.

When will you ever learn...oh, thats right...never.image

The best receiver in the game is Randy Moss. No questions asked. What did Moss do as rookie? He destroyed secondaries Joey. He scored like 17ish TD's. Roy Williams is a stud. He is a rookie and he is a stud. Harrington is a good solid QB. Kevin Jones may be a rookie, but rookie RB's have some big years.

The Lions will be a division winner.

The Eagles are 3-0. The Bucs are still waiting for an offensive TD.

  • Blow up this thread.

Vote in the "Return of Chuckie" poll.
  • Joe,

You're really starting to lose credibility with this crap. You started a thread titled "The Official Detroit beats Philly Thread" - and then watched the Eagles man-handle the Lions. Just admit you were wrong about this game and move on ... the only reason the Lions started moving the ball was because the game was over in the first quarter. I'd spend more time wondering how quickly Pittman and Simms will be in the starting lineup, and less time trying to shove your foot deeper in your mouth image ...
