Should I downgrade? Pics posted

Would you downgrade a damaged, or problem coin in the interest of getting a problem free version?
I.e. taking a net Fine example and downgrading to a problem free AG3.
And we are taking about an 1889cc Morgan, so I cannot afford to upgrade, so take that off the table.

If your coin is net-graded down to Fine, this indicates to me that it has VF or better detail? What is the "problem"? Unless it's slap-yo-mama ugly, I can't see how an AG would be more pleasing.
I don't mind circ Morgans- in fact, I sometimes like the look of them better than UNC's, for some strange reason. But I like a nice VG or better, with medium grey toning.
If your net-Fine is OK looking, stick with it until you can afford a better one. Unless a slightly lower grade but problem-free piece comes along (but not an AG).
Generally a problem-free lower-grade coin will be preferable to a slightly better one that has problems, but this depends on a lot of variables, like how much lower the lower-grade problem-free piece is, and what the eye appeal and problem of the problem coin is. Go with your gut and follow your heart.
I say go with the problem free original AG or G. There's absolutely no shortage "problem" 89cc's......

I honestly would not pay anything for a problem coin - they have no value to me at all.
Everytime I look at them my eye gravitates toward the problem to the point that I can't see anything else. They give me no joy and no pride of ownership.
But thats just my opinion.

<< <i>Ok everyone here she is.....in all her glory. NCS calls this envrionmental damage, I call it "I got it really really cheap and it filled a hole". >>
I understand that it was inexpensive, and it filled a hole, but do you enjoy looking at that coin?
It's got negative eye appeal, for sure, but it's not totally hideous. It has nice detail. If you got it cheap, maybe you should try selling it and see if you can find a decent lower-grade example. If you don't mind my asking, how cheap was "cheap"? In the G4 pricerange? AG pricerange? Cheaper?
As far as price I got it at about G6. The thing is I could actually turn a profit on it!
