A few more coins just added to my type set. All have been cracked out of their slabs. Feel free to play guess the grade.

I think it's neat the way the MM sits on top of the rays...

Uh oH! Looks like someone's type set is going to give someone else's type set some serious competition! image

I'll guess MS63 for the first two, a conservative AU55 for the third, and how about MS62 on the fourth! I like 'em! image

Those are some nice looking coins! Congratulations on the aquisition!
  • Very nice. My favorite is the quarter with arrows & rays. Are putting these in an album?

  • My God, that barber dime is one of the most beautiful coins Ive ever seen...period. Mike

I hit a comma instead of period in the file name the first time, so the IHC didn't load at first. It's fixed now. I'll post the grades later today, after the west coast gets home.

SD - yes, these are going in a Dansco 7070.
  • I really like the strike on that 1838, very beautiful coin.image

There's some high praise, considering it came from the king of raw type set collectors!

And well-deserved praise, too- those are some real beauties!

Baley's grade guesses sound good to me, though I think the Indian's better than a 62. I love the glossy surfaces on the large cent, the colors on the Barber dime and Indian cent, and the sharpness of the A&R quarter. I agree that the mintmark over the rays is cool on that piece. A&R quarters are cool to begin with, but mintmarked A&R quarters are cooler still.

That's quite an appealing array of eye candy. image

    Grades are (were):
1838 LC ANACS Unc detail net AU50 corroded (they were WAY too tough calling this corroded)
1899 dime ANACS Unc detail net AU55 cleaned (no hairlines, just dipped. Still has great cartwheel luster)
    1853 quarter ANACS EF45
    1907 IHC NGC 64RB
