Should We Consider Coin Denomination BS&T Forum Categories ?? -- POLL

StuartStuart Posts: 9,761 ✭✭✭✭✭
With the large volume of BS&T Forum coin ads, I was wondering if we'd all benefit by subdividing the BS&T Forum into different coin denomination categories to make it easier to sort through ads that we are interested in??

I'd like to poll the user community to see what you think...

Sounds like a good idea to me.
I,m in favor of a subdividing the forums into specific denoms, or by alloy.

No to denomination specific categories, or even seperates for alloys.

Yes to seperation for BST board sales/trades/WTB and ebay ads!

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

    Good idea Prooflike!

TWQG: I thought that if I posted this poll on the U.S. Coin Forum it may reach more people than on the BS&T Forum. I agree that it is BS&T specific, but thought that it was worth posting for general viewing.

    That works for me!

If that was done, we wouldn't need further separation.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    Hmmm, yes to separate series.

Maybe, but the categories would have to be fairly simple. You wouldn't want too many.

If your going to add a category make it "Coins on Ebay" and "Coins for Sale Here." Seems like most of the messages now are ebay ads.

Numish: Another excellent suggestion! You guys are generating some good ideas worthy of consideration...

I think Coin Denomination BS&T Forum Categories is a great idea. I doesn't matter to me that eBay auctions are in the mix.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

I'd definitely support Numish's idea. I go to the BST to look for coins for sale here. Just like I get annoyed when a coin on eBay is really a Superior auction or whatever, I get frustrated when the BST is stuffed with things that aren't really for sale there.

  • How about US, World, Auctions, and Supplies. I voted yes.

    Jerry
  • No. I don't think there is enough BST action here to justify it. Besides, before you know it, this place would become with a totally chaotic version of ebay and CU would lose all their advertisers.

How about sub-divided by each letter of the alphabet?
D for dollars? (or, would that be M for morgans and T for trade dollars and P for peace?)

If you can't tell, NO is my vote.

Wanna know why? because it would be too split up....and, I have bought stuff I wouldn't have looked for it was it more segmented.
I think splitting it is more for "specialists" or sellers.....and, the sellers are the ones cluttering because they have a thread, then they TTT all the time. Or, they have a thread, and another thread, and another thread, and then ANOTHER thread about consolidating all the threads. Too much clutter by people doing stuff like that. If they would just rethink things, then there would be less problem, right?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Pre and post 20th century.
    Posting ebay sales seems redundant.
If the buyer is looking to buy from a board member, the sales should be "here only."
  • Another vote for TheNumish's suggestion. BST forum and this forum both contain too much ebay related business for me.

Leave it as it is, free trade is good commerce too many restrictions complicate things.

  • No! How would feel if you had a cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half, Trade dollar, Morgan, Peace, and Commerative half to sell at the same time?
Personally, I don't feel that the forum is broke, just abused!

    Stuart:

I sure like the idea of TheNumish to separate into categories "Coins on Ebay" and "Coins for Sale Here."
