How can you tell a P or D mint Quarter Bag without opening up the box?

I had forgotten that I had bought these $25 USMint Quarter bags a few years ago, from the US Mint.
These are the 2001 North Carolina D and P mint bags.
I was going to put them up on Ebay as I don't need them anymore, as I don't want to collect the bags.
But it appears there isn't any interest on Ebay for them either.
Then I got to thinking about it and anyway . . .

Is there anyway to tell if the one box that is unopened is a 2001 P North Carolina mint bag or not? Or something else?
Granted I could open it and look like I did the one bag, but some people seem to really like them unopened.
Thanks for looking,

  • Earl,

Those are SOUTH Carolina, not North.
QC2 is Philadelphia. QD2 is Denver.

    FYI,

  • Earl,

Also I just sold one of each of these last night on ebay and did pretty well.

    Definitely don't open the box.

  • Wouldn't the return address be a giveaway?

I couldn't help but think that myself.

It was a trick question, he was trying to see if you were paying attention.
  • Thanks guys I seem to have a mental block against South Carolina, I see it but keep putting down North.
I was trying to make sure it was really a South Carolina P mint and not some other state during that time.
Yes the return address would help, Phillie versus Denver.
I'd just hate to put it up on Ebay and someone gets it and it is some other state instead of Sourth Carolina.

  • I was lost in your question at first, but after reading the replies, I think you are asking how to know what the contents are inside the boxes, whether it be Texas quarters or South Carolina quarters or whatever. Is that long number above the QD2 and QC2 your order number? If so and if you ordered online, you can check your order history online and see what it is. Maybe a call to the Mint's customer service can help also with those numbers on the shipping label to tell you what the contents are.
