And another guy ends auction just before my snipe

1833 half R5+

Ended because of an error in listing 13 seconds before it would have ended normally? This coin is a TOUGH R-5 (about 35-40 known) and even with the damage worthy of a healthy snipe. I know that there was at least one strong bid set to go at 6 seconds(mine)...probably a few more.

  • Let's all email him and tell him we had strong bids ready to snipe in at the 5 second mark and he would have sold for a good price if he had waited. Do you know what high bid was before he pulled it?

If you want the coin, bid....

Loser. I hate it when they do that. If you want bidders to honor their bids, then honor your sales.

I'm sitting on an '92-O Morgan with what I think is a more than reasonable opening bid. I have 10 watchers, but no bids yet. The auction ends in four hours. I will not cancel it early. I do wish it had at least one bid at the minimun, though, so folks wouldn't know what the proxy was on that bid. Instead I fear 10 bidders will try to snipe at or near $189. This may be my last eBay sale for a while. The results keep getting worse in recent weeks.
  • Damn website errors. Made me double post.

Don't lie! Tell him the truth about how you feel and/or report him to Ebay.
  • Guys, lets be realistic about this. It is allowed to happen by ebay! Until they change the protocol of doing this, it will do no good to complain about it here repeatedly. Maybe it will relieve your tension, but it will not change the results!

Nick, you mean a snipe is NOT a bid? I thought you had up until RIGHT before the auctioned closed to get your bid in. image

Another scared little lowlife seller to avoid - that's also trying to avoid eBay's reserve fees or higher listing fees on auctions with a higher starting price. Yeah, a real honest guy. image

I've reported many for ending listings early and always get the same response. Nobody cares. The only way these people are going to let their auctions run until the very end is if they think they will get good late bids.

  • What the heck is up with the website? A third duplicate post appears a half hour later?? Geez.

Auctions like this are why I usually don't snipe...for some insane reason, this time I did.

I was watching a PCGS graded MS66CAM SMS Jefferson recently and the seller ended the auction in the last few seconds because of an "error in the listing". Strangely, when he relisted it nothing changed.

It was sitting at 23.00 when cancelled. My snipe was for $174.47.
I actually would have been suprised to win at that.

    Nobody's responsible for nuttin.

A bidder should not be able to cancel a bid for ANY reason.
    Learn to read!

Same on seller.....It's a damn AUCTION.
Gonna list fer a dollar.....SELL fer a dollar.

Let em put a reasonable start price or shut up.
So chintzy and worried about paying a fee to start near the market, who cares what happens to em?

eBay has given auctions the worst name they have ever had.

It's a BUSINESS. Treat it as such.

All eBay accounts should have minimum $100.00 deposits that go out as "liqudated damages" for errors.
Once it costs someone to bid or sell stupidly, it stops magically.

  • I ought to place a few bids and then cancel them all and see if ebay is satisfied with my explanation that I didn't feel like buying the items anymore.

image I'm getting my butt kicked right now on my auctions ending in two hours. But I will suck it up and give up the coins for cheap if I have to. I placed them for auction with the appropriate minimum bid and no reserve, and if I expect buyers to honor their bid, they have the right to expect me to honor the auctions I place.

  • I just sold a $60 coin for $15.50 and a $50 coin for $16.05

I should have saved the slabbing fees and melted these down for their silver - I'd be way ahead
