This looks like end roll to me. Usually end roll toning has a lot of straight lines seperating the colors where the end flaps on the roll came into direct contact with the coin. Of course if the coin comes from a shotgun type roll, the pattern will be different. Then it's usually more like bullseye toning since there is no sulfur laden paper contacting the center of the coin.
<< <i>Oh, I wouldn't lean to endroll toning, as there is only one crease, and the rest of the colors don't come to sudden ends... >>
Jeremy,
Not all end-rollers have well defined demarcation lines in the toning.

Hence I reviewed my decision At first, I saw just the white line which almost looked like thin tape--after I posted I realized there are some geometric patterns in there (albeit not super-sharp)... no timeout has been charged
<< <i>Looks endroll to me. The colors are pretty, the pattern is ugly. But not bad ugly.
I'm just a scrooge who doesn't care for the toning patterns on a lot of Morgans. I do like that one better than the one Jeremy posted.
Would I have "starred" it like NGC did? No. But beauty's all in the eye of the beholder, ain't it?
It's kinda neat. >>
I'm amazed you like it at all. After watching your posts for some time (always insightful), I thought surely you would not like it if you were on-line and saw it. In truth, I think you've "hit the nail on the head". I agree with everything you've said, except I like the one Airplanenut posted better. Thanks for the "on target" opinion.
I'd like both coins better if the toning were on the obverse or if they were less common dates. As it is I like the MS 64* very much. I think it is certainly worth a premium over a "regular" 64. If you are asking the question "pretty or ugly?" I think the coin should be sold to the highest bidder on the BS/T forum tomorrow
I really shouldn't be such a scrooge on these, I guess. That toning pattern just ain't my cup o' tea, that's all.
I like the colors on the one you posted a little better than the one he posted, and the pattern is not as in-your-face obvious, which is a plus to me. Of course, somebody who likes those patterns might pick the one Jeremy posted. (I'm surprised they graded that one 65 with all the chatter on the obverse).
It's kinda non-pretty but I like it because I like weirdly toned Morgans. The white stripe makes it looks like the eagle is in a beam of a spotlight. Cool.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
it's an 85-o, which is 1 of the most very common morgan rolls there is. many end-roll coins are available, of which that looks like just another example.

that is very beautiful - end roll or no!
Best,

I'll secons that. A quick dip will fix that coin.

NICE !!! I like yours better.

Sorry, not for sale (you were kidding weren't you).
Here's my favorite of the endrollers I've handled:
Not a very high grade, but man was it pretty.

It was a digital photo (outdoor light, shade, afternoon, white background, unaltered). Pretty accurate as to color and appearance.
Your endroller is gorgeous !!!
it's very nice, but not earth-shattering.
