Help with Heavy Motto 1934 Quarters

Is this a rare variety? Is it more valuable than a standard 34?

As I understand it, the Heavy Motto is more rare than the Light Motto.

Here's a link to a discussion on the Registry Set Forum

Does anyone know if PCGS is keeping track of the populations of the Heavy, Medium, and Light Motto 34P's yet?

  • PCGS has now started to designate HEAVY MOTTO on 1934 quarters. They have been designating LIGHT MOTTO for quite some time. As people begin sending their heay motto quarters in for redesignation, we should start to see the real populations of each variety show up in the pop reports. I would give it a year or so to get an accurate figure.
