  • Hi Ken
very nice Proof but a just bit white for my tastes - looks possibly overdipped - how are the mirrors? Is there any contrast or is it satin as others point out? Still, an attractive peice! That Large Cent - looks very unusual to me I must say - perhaps the scan? It looks recolored, or PVC? I don't know, but it's not good.
I responded in great detail to your post about you not ever hearing anything about wood damaging coins - did you see the response and have you reconsidered your opinion?

    Best to you,

I love the 3 cent nickel, kind of hate the large cent (to be perfectly honest)

Very nice 3c nickel. The Large Cent - well, yuck.

I have a bunch of type set coins en route - some from Heritage and some from DLRC. And, have a local show tomorrow. Will do some postings next week, hopefully. Should I post individual coins, like above, or post them in the album, a la Baley?

The 3CN looks like an easy PR65. Interesting how the proofs of these sometimes have more of a satin finish like yours while others are high contrast cameos...

The cent is funky... reverse looks porous or something.

  • Billy, yes I saw your response! I read it very early this AM and then headed out to the coin show. Not sure how I feel about it!

Nice proof 3cN. It's a lot like mine: satiny surfaces. The cent's had a hard life.

    Isn't a 3 cent nickel actually a TRICKEL?

I like it too, 1889 is a great date in that series, last date, seems like it wasn't that long ago, my grandparents could have spent them.

    Way coolio.
