URGENT - Ebay Fraud, Help

There's a seller on Ebay "selling" several coins, one of which is NOT his. The coin and the image belong to a personal friend of mine. Here is the link to this jerk's auction:

Jerk's Ebay Auction

I've already contacted my friend whose coin and image it is, and I've contacted the one bidder on the auction to warm him. How do we report this jacka$$ to Ebay???

So you know, here is the link to my friend's website with the image:

Time to send out the troglodytes.

Questions from other buyers for this listing
Q: You've been found out, jackass! I suggest you cancel this auction immediately. You lifted the coin picture from a personal friend of mine. In fact, here is where you got the image from HIS website: http://members.tripod.com/~RPHolder/1897OBarberHalf.jpg Nice try, a***ole. Cancel the auction immediately or I will notify Ebay. Answered on Sep-17-04
A: Why would your friend mind? For that matter why would you either? Now that it has gotten a bid, it won't let the picture be changed, which means I have to cancel my auction and do it over with somebody else's picture. So, is it that important to you? If so, I'll cancel and start over.
  • Did you read the sellers answer to your question?

  • Let's see... why would he mind...

You don't own the coin pictured with the auction, yet you offer this picture of the supposed coin up for auction. That's called deception and fraud.

  • Well, One good thing is he doesn't know that the question and answer is turned on and all his idiotic responses will be posted on the auction for all to see image
  • Here's my response back to this cretin:

    Why would HE mind?

Because you are engaging in fraud with a picture and a coin that he owns and you don't.

    Why would I mind?

Because you are engaging in fraud with a picture and a coin you don't own and that hurts the hobby that I love.

End your auctions now or Ebay will be alerted of your fraud. If you continue with your auctions, I will contact Ebay, tell them what you're doing, request your personal contact info, and contact your local police department.

  • This kind of sad excuse for a human being really make my blood boil!
  • The individual has a 1925 Standing Liberty for sale with the Picture of a 1917 Type 1 really nice coin as the description picture. I wonder if he has any to sell at all. Makes the individuals that live in Florida (hey I am one) look bad.

  • Anybody know how to contact Ebay about this guy? I've never had to report somebody like this before.
  • He apparently knows nothing about coins. Look at this auction:

Follow this link, scroll to the bottom where it says "Report listing violations..." and then fill in the details on the next page. I've already done that. But the more reports, the merrier and the more likely it'll be dealt with.

Does that make me a troglodyte? image
  • Thanks Ziggy!
  • Excellent, all his auctions have been cancelled. I'm going to keep an eye out for this guy over the next few weeks to see what else he tries to pull.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance in shutting this guy down... at least temporarily!
  • Message I sent him.

    Dear rvmanroger1,

You state 1925 Standing Liberty Quarter Dollar. However picture is of a 1917 Type 1 very expensive coin of that quality. Why not take a picture of your own coin you have to offer or not insert a picture at all. Do you have a coin for sale, is it of this quality grade???? I live in Florida and lived through Charley and Frances.

    His answer.
Thank you this was a learning experience for me and now I will not use stock pictures. I will take my own photos. Thanks

I honestly hope he had the coins he noted, even though they were not the same picture as inserted into his auction pages. If he did not he should thank all of us and possibly others for keeping his a@# out of jail.

Okay, cancelling and starting over. I didn't know it is such a big deal that the photo has to be the exact coin being sold. No 'stock photos' allowed in the coin section must be the rule. Books are very different, allowing you to enter the ISBN number and providing a stock picture for you.

From the auction. Pretty much what he emailed me also without the reference to selling books.

eBay's response to my reporting him stealing pictures:

    <<Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay with your concerns.

I have reviewed the information that you provided regarding image and
text theft, but at this point find that I do not have enough evidence to show that the member has violated any eBay rules.

Unfortunately, we will only be able to take action if the owner of the
image or text writes to us. In some instances, certain members will
allow others to use their images. It is also possible that they acquired the image from a mutual source. Therefore, we often cannot remove
listings based on the representations of third parties whose credentials we cannot verify.

We do understand the potential for further issues in this type of
situation. That is why, if you feel strongly about this issue, we
recommend you contact the seller(s)/website owner to advise them of the
information and recommend they contact us directly. Once we hear from
them, we will take appropriate action.

Thanks again for writing, and thank you for being part of the eBay
    community.

    Regards,

    Seth

I really get tired of seeing that line in every response from them. Apparently they define "enough evidence" as somebody getting ripped off after an auction has ended.
