While it's certainly true that it's not possible to accurately grade a coin from an image, the idea still has great merit and would be a lot of fun. I think I have a solution.
Since the contest pits the skills of the participant against the skills of the PCGS grading team, you could have the team assign grades from the images rather then the actual coins. This puts both sides on equal footing and makes it a valid challenge.
Adding an internet division would get HUGE participation and HUGE participation is a very good marketing tool.
