Last week I started a Type Set [excluding gold]. 2 days ago the count was 42 holes filled and 32 to go. Yesterday 2 more holes were filled. I picked up an 1829 Coronet Large Cent and an 1893 Columbian Half. The Large Cent was cheap and out of a junk coin box since it has a pitted surface [I picked it up as a hole filler since the empty holes irritate me, an upgrade on this coin will happen someday]. The Columbian Half was labelled MS 63 Prooflike by the dealer. It really looks nice, silver with light brown rim toning. It also has heavily frosted devices contrasted against fields that are somewhat reflective. When looking at it at certain angles it has a cameo appearance. Very nice eye appeal, thus I paid a small premium for the piece.
I am very happy with the fact that the holes in the Dansco Album are becoming filled quickly. However, the remaining holes are primarily of older vintage [except 3 holes for other 1892-1954 commems] and will have to be filled at a slower pace and with circulated examples.
