opinions on 1997 SMS Jeffy

Bought a coin and currency set, the jefferson is full steps at least MS-69, should I get it out and send it to PCGS or keep it as a set. Also if I take it out, is the dollar even worth slabbing? Is the currency anything special.
Thanks

Jeff

go ahead and slab it. If you ever want to sell it , slabbing it is the best thing you can do.

Don't know about the other stuff in the C&C set but the Jeff is worth over $200 if slabbed a MS69FS.
Everything starts and everything stops at precisely the right time for precisely the right reason.
  • Are you planning on selling right away? There were only 25,000 sets made if I remember correctly. Many sets were broken up to produce slabbed coins. The quality of the coins is great, though some got mishandled and some weren't perfect to begin with. So the grade 69 FS is not uncommon. Another consideration is that these coins tone in the sets. If you can keep a set in a dry place so the coins don't turn black the sets may be worth quite a bit in the future as more and more of them get broken up.

In fact after writing this I think I will take my set off my website and sell it to my wife. She will keep it for a long time and likes to rescue some things I want to sell image

If I were you, I would give the set to your wife. You never know what you will get in return!

  • I am not planning on selling it anytime soon, I consider this part of the Jefferson set and that is why I got it.
