  • Yep, I got that Monday. An obvious scam. The misspelled 'unconvenience' shows they don't even bother to use a spell checker or know the English language that well.

And don't forget to include the header so they can, hopefully, track them down!

  • I got a different one yesterday which seemed to confuse eBay with PayPal. It even had the "awconfirm" id that eBay uses, which suggests that they were pinged to eBay.

  • eBay has already confirmed that to be spam, after I forwarded it to spoof@ebay.com.

  • I got one today entitled "Account Investigation Important Notice". It's much more realistic than the usual sort. Since most people -- myself included -- have never seen an actual email notification of a detection of suspect activity, the only way you'd catch it would be if you firmly understood that eBay doesn't want you to respond to emails, but to go to the site and log on from there.

  • Today I received my first spam regarding my Ebay registration. The e-mail appears to have originated from services@eBay.com. It required to verify my credit card details and even boldly included the following:

Card number: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-4322 (Not shown for security purposes) Expiration date: 11/05

I didn't know I had a credit card. Maybe I should put it in use imageimage

One problem with that is that spoof@ebay.com has been known to autorespond to submissions saying that anything forwarded to them did not originate at ebay. Including even simple bid confirmations.
