Is it just me or are these prices kinda extreme....image

Maybe I should get some rolls if they are getting that kind of money for a 68
  • If someone found either of those coins in a roll, my hat's off to him/her. I've looked through about five rolls of new nickels and the condition of the coins has been hideous at best. Out of the five rolls that I looked through there was only a couple MS65's and none better.

Finding anything better than MS66 in the new nickels I feel is worth setting aside.
  • I was just watching the auction and I think he sniped last few min. Must really need them.
  • Better make em before the MS68 pop is 1297 !

  • I was considering purchasing a few rolls myself at the next show.

  • How on earth did the 2nd one at +700 go for MS68 with those hits on the shoulder????? I agree that the coin looks nice but I thought that 68 - 69 were reserved for hairlines and full strikes???

Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
  • Looks like all the little rich kiddies came out to play for those two Jeffys. Boy are they in for a shock when the next pops update is released and they aren't 1 of 1 anymore.

    Holy Crap!!!
These bidders must have a lot of money to throw around..... I understand that most coins found in rolls are pretty marked up, but I'm guessing the pops will grow regardless....
My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable !
  • Could be a set up to create an inflated price reference. Then the sales really start.
  • I haven't went through any rolls but is it that tough to get a MS67?

    And another $511.00 for a MS67!

  • WTF!!! That 04-D that sold for $760 had a yellow spot on Jefferson's cheek and a nick on his bust!!! This is insane!!
  • I'm gonna track this for awhile.

  • By the way, when will the new pops reports come out? I will be curious to see if 67's and 68's are going to be that tough to come by.

The Jeffs I pulled from the mint sets were nice. If one of them isn't a 68 I don't know what is. I'll try posting pics latter on.

Now the rolls were bad. None of those in my album.

Those coins didn't come from rolls.

  • If you got rolls with these in them you are really lucky.
I went thru a number of mint sets to find some to turn in.
Even then it wasn't good pickin's.

I don't think the prices are far off at all.

I got some good pics but they are way to big. I'll try a lower resolution but only one coin.

I've looked through my fair share of rolls and haven't even found ONE that I care to submit. IMHO it had to have come out of one of a batch of Mint sets when the dies were brand spanking new!

This is the danger in buying a low pop modern because as pop goes up, premium comes down!

I think those prices are infreakingsane. You can buy some nice Type coins for that kind of money. How many were minted?
Great coins are not cheap, and cheap coins are not great!

The rolls I bought were in bad shape. I think it's true that those did not come from rolls.

I was just on the U.S. Mint site to order my proof platinum and saw a 6 coin set of the new nickels for sale. Has anyone ordered/received that set yet? Maybe those nickels came from there. I ordered the Peace nickel rolls and was very dissappointed in them.
