Mitch, how much did you have to pay for that endorsement (or does he just get a reduced rate on next year's 70s)?

Alan: There are many 70's that are better than others. A couple of my personal favorites are the DEL CLAD and SILVER. Just super tough coins to find perfect.

The great thing about this series right now IMHO is that prices for PR70 coins are well within the budgets of most collectors. For example, some of the 2003-2004 PR70 coins are available at around $250/coin. Yes, while these coins are not "$90,000" pop 3 Lincoln cents - I'll tell you what, you can give me (20) PR70 state quarters at $5,000/lot and a check for $85,000 any day and keep the $90,000 Lincoln! I suspect the vast majority of collectors would do the same. If $90,000 Lincolns are for the "kings" to collect and $250 PR70 state quarters are for the "serfs" to collect - so be it. There can usually only be a few kings in the world and often times they spend most of their day "watching their back" anyway. image

P.S. Steve - I was writing this post while you posted. The collector emailed me yesterday and told me what he had done. It is always appreciated.

  • Mitch, I think that pr70 state quarters at $250 each would make a great start for lower price range collectors and a great incentive for them to trade up later. In fact, when I bought my first pr70 silver washingtons in the $90-$100 price range it gave me the incentive to collect the other proof silver washingtons -- and to create what then was the #1 registry set.

Hmmm.... $250 each.... I just might be interested in a "flyer."

    cheers, alan mendelson
  • Thanks Mitch, but I could not have done it without you! You saved me $1000"s of dollars and I have some thing that I did not dream of getting when I started for all I wanted was a PR69 DCAM Set and now I have that (tied for 25th last time I checked) and a PR70 DCAM SET!
If anyone is looking for PR70 coins, check with WWW.WONDERCOINS.COM first for he has competitive prices.

Alan: I have a half dozen of more states in that $250 range. Just let me know via PM if you want to hear about them.

There were only 3 when I responded. I am sure there will be many more in the future.
